Música del Pasado de América: Vol. 4 - Camerata Renacentista de Caracas - Virreinato de Nueva Granada (1992)

"En el cuarto número de la serie dedicada a La Música del Pasado de América, la Camerata Renacentista presenta la música desarrollada en la Catedral de Santa Fe de Bogotá a partir del año 1571 por los destacados compositores Gutierre Fernández Hidalgo, José Cascante, Juan de Herrera, Alonso Torices y Matías Durango.

Del maestro José Cascante, considerado el más importante músico de la Catedral de Santa Fe y quien fuera Maestro de Capilla de la misma, se pueden escuchar el Villancico al nacimiento, Villancico a Santa Bárbara, Letra al Nacimiento, Sabbato Sancto ad Vesperas, Solo a Nuestra Señora de la Soledad y Salve Regina, piezas que sorprenden por la asombrosa versatilidad que muestra el compositor al escribir música de características tan diferenciadas en la misma época.

De Juan de Herrera, sucesor de José Cascante como Maestro de Capilla, se incluye la Misa de Difuntos a cinco voces, una de las obras litúrgicas más importantes de este compositor cuya música religiosa mantenía las características típicas de la música española de ese periodo y A la fuente de bienes, una obra que refleja la influencia de la música popular del momento.

De Alonso Torices se incluye el Villancico de negro de navidad Toca la flauta, género también conocido como guineo y que presenta el exótico idioma llamado negrito que replicaba la forma de hablar e interpretar el español de los negros en la época de la colonia en los países de Latinoamérica." "More new music from Arca! Who, since his last free release, has probably been listening to a lot of Massive Attack. It's not that the music on Stretch 1 is overly indebted to the forefathers of trip hop or anything, but he's now doing a sort of hyper-distorted vocal mumble that would make Tricky proud. On the whole, though, the EP is a strong push forward for the producer. He reigns ambient wooshes and gloopy mouth clicks into a fully formed, almost ecstatic song on 'Truly Carrying,' and 'DOEP' (streaming below) it sounds as if it's been built from discarded samples: thin keyboard breeziness, stumbling, chopped-up warmth, and those vocals again. Doesn't really matter what, exactly, Arca is saying to be honest. It just sounds pretty awesome." (Source)

Zardonic - Policia + Fresh Meat (2009) [MP3 V2]

La primera vez que escuché el nombre de Zardonic no tenía la más remota idea de quién se trataba o de si era importante conocerlo. De hecho, la única referencia que tenía de Drum and Bass para aquel entonces, era Pendulum. Al enterarme que se trataba de un venezolano que cuando venía a Mérida se la pasaba metido en Birosca Carioca y El Hoyo del Queque (jejeje), me di a la tarea de investigar y... por poco me da un derrame cerebral escuchando las vainas que este chamo hacía en sus inicios: DnB mezclado con metal, un proyecto de black metal en solitario (Gorepriest, más tarde Sol Nocturno), un alter ego de progressive house (Nic Zardo), un proyecto de dark ambient (Triangular Ascension), más otras participaciones en grupos de black, grindcore, death metal y quien sabe que otra cochinada.

En resumidas cuentas, la discografía de Federico Ágreda es inmensa y el tema Policia es básicamente un himno para sus seguidores de la vieja escuela. Zardonic es referencia importante de la música electrónica tanto nacional como internacional pues, hoy en día, ya es conocido a nivel global.
